The San Francisco 49ers waived running back Patrick Taylor Jr. on Friday, making room on the roster for the anticipated return of All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey is set to make his season debut on Sunday after recovering from bilateral Achilles tendinitis.
Taylor joined the 49ers in April and has been active in all eight games this season, logging 21 offensive snaps and 77 on special teams. During his tenure, he recorded eight touches for 37 yards and returned four kickoffs for 104 yards. Previously, Taylor spent three seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he appeared in 34 games, amassing 330 total yards and a touchdown on 79 touches.
Alongside McCaffrey, the 49ers currently have Jordan Mason and Isaac Guerendo as additional options in the backfield, adding depth to the running back position for the upcoming games.
