The San Francisco 49ers secured a crucial 36-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, bouncing back from a disappointing home loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Despite some tense moments, the 49ers managed to hold off a Seattle comeback at Lumen Field, improving their record to 3-3.

San Francisco took control early, building a commanding 16-3 halftime lead and extending it to 23-3 in the third quarter. However, Seattle struck back with a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown by Laviska Shenault, followed by a one-yard touchdown run by Kenneth Walker, cutting the 49ers’ lead to just six points heading into the fourth quarter.

Unlike their collapse against Arizona in Week 5, the 49ers kept their composure. A nine-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to George Kittle and a six-yard rushing score by Kyle Juszczyk helped seal the win, thwarting Seattle’s comeback attempt.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed relief after the game, praising his team’s resilience. “After those two tough losses, we needed to remind ourselves how hard it is to win in the NFL,” Shanahan said. “I was proud of the way we fought through the pressure tonight.”

Purdy delivered a strong performance, completing 18 of 28 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns. The 49ers’ ground game also stayed strong, even after losing running back Jordan Mason to a shoulder injury in the second quarter. Rookie Isaac Guerendo stepped up, rushing for 99 yards on 10 carries.

On the defensive side, San Francisco stifled Seattle’s rushing attack, limiting them to just 52 yards while intercepting quarterback Geno Smith twice, including on the opening drive.

The game was especially significant for wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who made NFL history with a 76-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. Samuel became the first wide receiver in league history to record 20 touchdown receptions and 20 rushing touchdowns. He finished the game with 102 receiving yards on three catches and added 15 rushing yards.

After the game, Samuel emphasized the importance of the win. “It was definitely a must-win for us to get back on track,” he said. “We treated it like a must-win and got the job done.”
