The Indiana Pacers have secured a major piece of their lineup, signing guard T.J. McConnell to a lucrative four-year, $45 million contract extension. This new deal, revealed by his agents Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman, ensures McConnell will remain with the Pacers through the 2028-29 season.
Originally set to make $9.3 million for the 2024-25 season, McConnell’s total earnings with the Pacers now jump to $54 million over five years. The 32-year-old guard’s standout performance in Indiana’s dramatic run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, where he averaged career-best numbers of 10.2 points during the regular season and 11.8 points in the playoffs, solidified his value.
This extension is just the latest in a series of blockbuster moves by the Pacers, who have also locked in stars like Pascal Siakam, Andrew Nembhard, and Obi Toppin on long-term contracts.
McConnell, a former undrafted player who started his NBA journey with the Philadelphia 76ers, has been a game-changer off the bench for the Pacers. During the postseason, he averaged 11.8 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds in just 20 minutes per game, making history by joining Hall of Famer Michael Cooper as one of the only players to average 10 points and five assists off the bench in a single postseason.
With McConnell’s new deal, the Pacers are sending a clear message: they’re all-in for another deep playoff run!
